Charron Golf News from the PGA Tour

Retief Goosen, playing steady golf all week with rounds of +7,+10,+8 and +7 (Stableford Systeme scoring), won for the first time since the 2004 US Open Championship, winning the International. Goosen finished with a total score of 32 edging out Brandt Jobe, who had a less than stellar final round with a score of -3. Goosen's win added $900,000.00 to his $2,047,275.00 already won this year to put him at $2,947,275.00 and sitting in 7th place on the PGA Tour money list just behing Kenny Perry. Jobe's 2nd place finish netted him a cool $540,000.00 helping puch his 2005 winnings to over $1.3 million.

Jeff Brehault finished off the tournament with a final round +10 helping him finish in solo 3rd place winning $340,000.00, giving him over $800,000.00 for the year which will guarantee his PGA Tour card for 2006. Brehault's previous best tournament in 2005 was a Tie for 6th at the Buick Open where he won $159,850.00 which made up the bulk of his 2005 PGA Tour winnings.

Canadian Mike Weir had his best tournament since the 2005 Masters, finishing in a Tie for 15th place, not really up to Mike's standards but something to build on. Weir's game seems to come around during the Majors, so we'll see if he can keep things rolling next week into the PGA Championship. Canadians would love to see their own win another Major to add to his Masters win of 2003. Mike's best finish on the PGA Tour in 2005 was a 2nd at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

Next week on the PGA Tour brings the PGA Championship at Baltusrol Golf Club from Aug. 8-14 . Defending Champion is Vijay Singh.
